Early Beginnings (2022-Present)
Bushenge Hunde USA-Canada Inc. was founded in 2022 by a group of visionary community leaders who recognized the challenges immigrants face when settling in the United States and Canada. These leaders also understood the difficulties communities encounter in their country of origin.

The organization’s name, Bushenge Hunde, is derived from Kihunde, a language spoken in the Nord-Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The term Bushenge translates to “council or place of gathering,” reflecting our mission of uniting immigrants for cultural integration, civics education, and creating opportunities, while also engaging in developmental projects in their countries of origin.

Bushenge Hunde USA-Canada Inc. was created to promote community support for immigrants from Africa and around the globe, strengthen cultural values, preserve African heritage, solicit donations, and foster global partnerships with like-minded organizations. The organization operates as a charitable corporation under Section 201 of the New York, USA Not-for-Profit Law.

Initial Focus (2017-2022)
Initially, Bushenge Hunde focused on cultural orientation and mutual assistance for its 72 founding members from the Nord-Kivu province of the DRC and new immigrants. Volunteer efforts created a welcoming environment for social connections and community-building.

Expansion and Growth (5-10 Years)
As we grow, our activities aim to include:

• Civic Engagement Initiatives: Educating immigrants about their rights and responsibilities.
• Financial Literacy & Life Planning: Providing tools for financial stability and future planning.
• Cultural Preservation & Integration: Promoting African heritage and supporting immigrant integration.
• Developmental Support: Preserving endangered languages and cultural practices.
• Immigrant Integration Support: Assisting immigrants in navigating challenges.
• Strategic Partnerships: Building alliances with organizations and governments.

Strategic Partnerships (2022-Present)
Key collaborations include:

• Central New York Community Foundation: Six of our board members were trained in leadership capacity building in 2024.
• Northside Learning Centre: Partnership for financial handling and support.

These partnerships enhance our ability to serve our community effectively.

• Over 300 immigrants served in the USA and Canada.
